Following the consultation in September 2024 the Severn Grove/ Romilly Crescent/ Conway Road Community Flood Plan group have asked the Council for action to help reduce flood risk and improve our streets. The actions include sucking out blocked gullies, rectifying poor road drainage and removing pavement trips due to tree roots lifting paving, a proposed rain garden on Romilly Crescent and crown lifting of some street trees. We sent a report to the Council setting out all the issues in November 2024. We are glad to report that all accessible gullies in our streets were cleared last month (see photo)- so thanks to the Council for this. We are liaising with them on the other issues.
We sent a more detailed report on trees touching houses or with low branches over front gardens in March 2025- asking the Council to carry out careful trimming of small branches and/or crown lifting. We appreciate the many benefits of large trees which enhance our otherwise hard urban area- so don’t want them removed or mutilated, just carefully managed. We will report on progress in the coming year.
Both reports are now placed on our Community Flood Plan web page.
